The aging phenomenon of stainless steel tube means that the stainless steel tube material changes over time. The hardness of stainless steel increases over time, which is age hardening. The aging phenomenon does not only mean hardening. Hardness and strength are the most prominent characteristics of stainless steel, so we call aging means hardening. The invention of hard aluminum alloys is only available because of the age-hardening phenomenon. Hard aluminum alloys are referred to here as aluminum alloy 2000 series, and the invention is good.

Age hardening of stainless steel tubes can be understood as follows: the alloying elements that should precipitate during the heat treatment of stainless steel tubes do not precipitate due to rapid cooling, but are forced to dissolve in the tube, which is solid solution treatment. Solution-treated stainless steel tube is in an unstable state, and the alloying elements within it have the opportunity to precipitate in an attempt to restore the stable state. Over time, the alloying elements are gradually deposited so that the relative sliding between the alloy lattices becomes increasingly difficult, i.e. the alloy becomes increasingly hard. From the above process, age hardening can be referred to as precipitation hardening. Aging that hardens at room temperature is room temperature hardening.

Artificial age hardening is a method of artificially increasing the temperature and accelerating the movement of atoms of elements dissolved in the alloy to accelerate age hardening. This artificial age hardening is also known as precipitation hardening treatment. Aluminum alloys and castings have related standards in JIS. T4 indicates hardening at room temperature after quenching, while T5 and T6 indicate that the tempering treatment is precipitation hardening. 600 series stainless steel is referred to as precipitation hardened and is a steel that has been precipitation hardened. As a term similar to aging, it changes over time and varies with time.

This is the same as age hardening, which refers to material changes that occur over time, but in contrast to hardening, which usually refers to undesirable changes, i.e., a decrease in performance.
